I think the problem with 100LL is that it has too much lead in it, which can lead to lead deposits in the combustion chamber and on the valve heads. A little is a good thing, but too much is too much. When we took Mark Jones' engine apart last month, he had significant deposits of lead, and had less than 50 hours on it. Many folks alternate with something like one tank of 100LL and 2 tanks of 93 octane auto fuel, assuming there's no detonation problem on 93 octane. I'll probably do something like 1:4. Marvel Mystery oil is supposed to help prevent lead deposits. And no, I don't own stock in Marvel Mystery oil...
