++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++ This particular item is at the discression of the DAR. I got 55 miles because I wanted to included a specific airport. He also explained that my KR is in "Phase 1" of flight testing for 40 hours. Again the DAR has some discression here but the standard for a non-certified engine/prop combo is 40 hours. At the end of 40 hours I make the log entry and place it in "Phase 2" which is the normal catagory for experimentals. At that point you can legally only do maneuvers, etc, that have been tested in "Phase 1". For example if you never do an aileron roll during "Phase 1" then you can't legally do one after "Phase 1" is completed. I have the option at any time of making a log entry and placing the KR back in "Phase 1" testing, complete with all the restrictions, to do further testing (commonly 5 hours or so he said) to test a new prop, engine, or other major changes. At the end of the test I make a log entry and put in back in "Phase 2". I see a real need for a "Aircraft certification" seminar at the KR Gathering. I've been through it and I'm not 100% sure of what I'm doing !! Larry Flesner
