The term bibliographic number is easily confused with "inventory number" and any local or old internal record numbers that migrated MARC may have.

I think the most accurate long form  representation is "Koha internal record number", as the biblionumber has nothing at all to do with MARC, and wouldn't necessarily be carried over to another system if the record was moved (not that anybody would *leave* Koha, amirite).

With that in mind, I don't see why we would need to drop biblionumber at all - it references exactly what it is, is specific to Koha, and can be understood and trained in that context, fully independent of MARC.

Hopefully Bug 19833 took care of (most of?) them.

I found a dozen or so in master.

As a human-readable term I prefer "Bibliographic record number."
However, operations which reference biblionumber should all be fairly
technical, and thus a technical term might be appropriate. I'm curious
what edge cases there might be that don't fall into the "technical"
category.

Most of the ones that I found were via grepping, I'm going to be looking at them in more detail shortly, so I'll have more context.

On the other hand, if we expect these more technical users to know
what biblionumber is... how did they learn?

I'm guessing that most probably learn from the URL or the database schema/reports library. It depends on level of expertise, I'm sure. I suppose I could ask on the koha general mailing list...
