I've been doing it since long now. I never use MS OFFICE, but OpenOffice, 
it works just fine. OpenOffice converts it to MS format or PDF, and 
everything is just perfect :) for printing.

At the least, you can use OpenOffice in Windows. Mind you don't trivialize 
GNU/Linux just for printing. It does a whole world lot of things for u :)
