FOSS and GNU/Linux are two lessons for 9th std in our school for the past 4 year. [ max of 6 classes, how is it sufficient ? ] Also it is part of 11th Std. syllabus. Difficult to depart "Windows" from them. [ Why to Depart ? let them learn basic concepts on their known/easy/simple way ]
When I visited few governments school, students are using OpenOffice, Games and fascinated by nice Screen Savers. Few of them try Shell commands too. Do you know, if the Physics , Chemistry and Maths teachers want to conduct Special classes for the students, they request Computer teachers to announce a "Special Class". You can expect more than 90% attendance. Then start with "Physic/ chemistry / maths " special classes, after that they move to computer science special classes. [the rural schools ] The awareness on GNU/linux among the Matriculation and City based schools are considerable. We can analyze many points on education system, interest, etc.. Let us continue to project the message "freedom in software" clearly to the students community. A sincere Thanks to all the members of this list, which helps me to continue my learning Thiagu _______________________________________________ To unsubscribe, email ilugc-requ...@ae.iitm.ac.in with "unsubscribe <password> <address>" in the subject or body of the message. http://www.ae.iitm.ac.in/mailman/listinfo/ilugc
