As I mentioned in my last post, I often go to the syslog even before looking at a joblog and I'm sure the operations staff (operators, production control, job scheduling, etc.) do the same. It's really them I am more concerned about. I've lived without the long messages for a long time now. :-) It could also confuse them if a user calls and describes a message they see in their joblog that isn't in the syslog. Depending on the job, the operations person may not even be able to view the output in SDSF due to security restrictions.
