On the subject of am_policy_hub, this was closed today: https://cfengine.com/dev/issues/1218 and also my original bug 1129. On the subject of cf_promises_validated, I too would like a formal explaination of how it works. There are too many unknowns for me to trust it at the moment. As a work around I suggest using splaytime and/or splayclass to have clients do manditory update checks at intervals.
