The fact that we have an open and public meeting is what I think helps us build community. People can tune in and take a casual look at what we're up to. Find things they might be interested and then join in. I've used the Monday public call with a few college students to get them to look at starting University Reps programs or Mozilla Clubs. When people at cons ask about what we're doing I direct them to tune into the Monday call and see for themselves. While I agree we need some format changes I think changing the openness of our meetings shows a retreat of sorts from where we need to be engaging the public.
