    Hello, Chris:
Welcome back. I'm sad to hear that you cannot open your files.

Thank you for giving us the details on your GnuCash version and your
    OS.
    That is helpful.
What do you observe? What specific actions do you take to try to open
your files? What do you observe happening? What do you expect to
    happen?
Do you know where on your Macintosh storage those files are? Could you,
for example, find them so that you can list the in a Finder window?
    Can
you do a Get Info on those files, to see their size and modification
    date?
Answers to these questions might be illuminating.

Could you please re-send this message, but not in the form of a word processing file attachment?  Please put the text of your comments in the body of the message. If you have screen shots, add them as attachments to the message. (Don't paste images into the body of the message, the mailing list deletes those.) This makes it easier for everyone reading the message to quickly grasp your message and reply.

You mention, "I just upgraded".  Which did you upgrade, macOS or GnuCash?

Has this version of GnuCash ever worked on your computer with this version of macOS? Or is it a matter of, it used to work, then you changed either GnuCash or macOS, and it has never worked since?

Best regards,
