You’re using an old version of gnucash. What system version of macOS are you 
using? You might have to upgrade gnucash (currently at 5.10). Make sure you 
don’t have the gnucash file open already, and if gnucash crashes when you click 
the “open anyway” button, then you certainly have a system version/gnucash 
version incompatibility.
