I have been using GNC for several years on my Linux operating system. I

Recently, discovered that Mx-Linux has 5.9 in its testing section.
Downloaded it but it would NOT open my data file.[code]No suitable backend

Created a new book which opens normally.

How can I use my old data?

Are you using the default XML format?

Is your new file (new book) saved in the same location as the old data?

Have you tried to open your old data file within GnuCash by clicking File --> Open from the GnuCash menu bar?
