Any objection to the handbook (or even gentoo docs as a whole) being in portage? 'emerge --searchdesc' doesn't turn it up, and I don't see it under app-doc/, so I don't think it's there. The problem I've tended to face is that on any install I do on new hardware, it's hit or miss whether or not the network will work after I reboot and work entirely within my installed environment. This is largely because I don't know which kernel options I need to leave enabled. That window inevitably requires me to have a separate machine with network access in order to walk any deeper through the handbook. -- :wq
