This is not the case. This is only due to the idiotic behaviour of
the common linux vendors, which pulverize every single piece of
software in to as many shared library packages as possible. The svn
tarball as downloaded doesn't require you to install any external
libraries - it contains them and the default build will just feed on
what it contains.
