John, I hope you're right. I find it discouraging that right now they seem
to be putting all their effort into that bizarre Aztec II pickup truck. But
maybe I'm just not seeing it.

The competition isn't holding still. Mainstream EU automakers are hard at
work on Eur 20k A-segment and Eur 25k B-segment EVs. Most will go on sale
between next year and 2026. They're looking at ranges of at least 350 km,
in many cases with 2 or even 3 battery options for longer range.

Most already have small-car factories and/or divisions all over the world,
so unlike Tesla, they don't need to design and build new ones just to make a
small EV.

And that's not even considering the Chinese EVs starting to roll into
Europe, especially Norway, where 2/3 of new vehicles sold are already EVs.
Europe is starting to look like the US in the 1970s, when the Japanese
automakers gained a US foothold that they've never lost.

I'd like to see Tesla take on both the Eur 20k and 25k goals, but IMO, they
can probably succeed - and make some progress toward their claimed mission -
with just a Eur 25k B-segment car. I think that it will need to beat the
competition's range. Around 450km at the base price would be good.

It will also have to be actually available at that price, unlike the
theoretical but practically unobtainable $35k Model 3s.

They'll probably also need to show a little more respect for environmental,
safety, and labor laws than they have in the US. Europe is generally less
tolerant about such matters, especially when it's not an EU corporation.
