You do realize that it takes money to design a good budget EV, and a LOT of money to build a factory that can product huge numbers of them? So, yeah, starting with higher price vehicles to generate the funds to design and build lower prices ones is EXACTLY what Tesla is doing - and has been part of Musks "Master Plan" for years.

And if you paid attention to the latest Tesla Investors meeting - They ARE actively working on a budget EV, (~25k range) and are starting to work on building the needed factory - which they hope to have producing cars in less than a year. GM/Ford/Etc.. can't do it - since the can't figure out how to build an EV and make any profit on even the expensive ones.

Tesla still doesn't.  They talk about it now and then, but what are they
actually on about?  A weird-looking pickup truck.

If Tesla truly wants to put butts in EV seats where EVs are welcomed, not
just in California, they need to offer EVs to suit the needs and budgets of
people other than the upper middle class and beyond.
