Dan - every cell is different.  4°C doesn't sound like a big deal to me.
 But its good to take notes and continue to investigate.  How much extra
temp is OK?  Probably someone who knows more will reflect on that.

There is the can't sleep at night thing...if you are worried you didn't
clean the posts well and it is troubling you, then there is no reason not
to clean them up.  Cells are expensive and care must be taken.

It sounds like you have those little strap mounted BMS?  I bought a used
pack with those and there were a number that had desoldered wires/ pads
separated from the printed circuit.  They look like an accident waiting to
happen to me.

They are definitely fragile and require some extra care.
