And since the ender-3 is bigger, meaning the non-magnetic peel and stick 
glue coated pads that come with the PLA are both too small, and covered 
with a peel and stick bottom which would preclude removing it from the 
plate once cooked into place, where do I obtain a kit to convert it 
thats known to be "the right stuff"?

Adhesion was such a problem that I kept raising the bed and extruder 
temps for the first layer until it did stick, sliced all the parts when 
I found that magic set of figures 73 and 225, then dropping to 60 and 
215 for the build. 215 is top end for this "Overture" brand of PLA.

And now its sticking so good I've had to toss pad and part in the freezer 
to get the part off the pad, then scrape the thin brim off by hand and a 
used jointer knife which laid flat, gets under the majority of the brim. 
There is sharp and there is sharp, and a jointer knife redefines sharp, 
particularly if its been re-sharpened on my wet rouge wheel as its a 
12,000 grit.

I should probably bring the sd card back to here and edit that code for 
lower temps now.

The lack of instructions that come with these things is amazing and 
frustrating. I had to remove the tab on the z switch to lower it another 
2mm in order to get enough spring tension to make the plate levelers 
actually work. The extruder setting OOTB was about 20% of what was 
needed to get 100mm of string for a 100mm feed. That I think I may have 
overshot and am turning it down slowly, very slowly.  The original xy 
scales may have been good, when I got the extruder to lay enough that 
5x5 cube measures around 5.09, 10.07, 15.07, 20.06 and 25.08, note the 
lack of a linear coorelation. Stepper motor granularity that a better 
driver might fix? DamnedifIknow.  Both are currently set at 80.10/mm.  
About 1% above OOTB.
