I have a KM400 motherboard that has worked well with low latency on
Ubuntu 8.04 and with the video driver set to vesa, about 10,000 ns. I
just "upgraded" to Ubuntu 10.04 and the latency is really bad with any
video driver, about 200,000 ns. I also have an Intel board that would
not work with 8.04 but works fine with 10.04. This just shows that even
with the "right" motherboard, one may still have trouble and tracking
these problems down can be a real pain. The wiki has a trouble shooting
page that may help.
