Hi Everyone, I believe Nevada is the only state in the country with EMC requirements! They are on the immunity side and are among the most stringent I know of, even more than medical! I have worked on a lot of gaming equipment, some pretty interesting stuff.
I have one instrument here that has been used for immunity testing on gaming equipment and it makes everything else I have seen in immunity testing look like child's play. It is fun to play with. I use it in my classes and have to have people disconnect their laptops in the classroom that is in the room next to the lab. The output of it can burn up an 8 Watt 2 Megohm resistor (essentially set it on fire) in about 5 seconds or less with peak currents (on a nanosecond risetime scale) of 160 Amperes of direct injection and thousands of Volts/meter of radiated field. I love this gaget! The output of this device is applied directly to gaming equipment which is not allowed to react to it! I have been mesmerized by high voltage things, and built them, for over 60 years now. The interterence was due to the the new computer driven gaming machines. That in the late 1970s. I was told Quasi Peak is used, due to video noise. Consumers would not mind a couple of white dots on their TVs, but a whole screen of white dots would be an issue.
