LearnEMC - List of Automotive Electromagnetic Compatibility Test Standards

An up-to-date list of Automotive Electromagnetic Compatibility (EMC) Test
Standards

The Big Three, GM, Ford, Chrysler, make up their own separate standards in
collusion with each other, using parts and pieces of the rest of the list.
And the tricky part is that to get "accepted" as qualified to test to their
standards, one has to build their specified test equipment AND pass their test
item through the requirements.
And they don't help nor provide hints. All you get is a pass/fail result.
It makes NARTE a grad degree - from kindergarten !

Hi David,
Thank you that is very useful.
I’ve seen OEM specs for Ford and GM and, as you observe, their requirements
often exceed R10 and CISPR 25. It was a rude shock to that particular client…
All the best and merry xmas

Subject: Re: [PSES] US vehicle EMC regulations
Hi James,
In the USA vehicles are covered by Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standards
(FMVSS), which do not address EMC/EMI. Part 15.103 excludes vehicles, except
for the general clause that they cannot cause harmful interference. The normal
intentional testing and certification would be required for a radio.
All the automotive manufacturers have their own internal specifications,
usually far exceeding the requirements from ECE R10.
Thanks,

Hi all,
I’m familiar with UNECE Regulation 10 that covers EMC for vehicles and
Electronic Sub Assemblies in Europe.
Is there an equivalent set of vehicle EMC standards for the US?
Presumably CFR47 Part 15 applies to unintentional and intentional radiators as
well?
Thanks and all the best
James
