It is a decidedly poor decision by SteppIR not to include a
"PTT In" connection (parallel to amplifier PTT) to inhibit
tuning while in transmit.
*** I had a similar issue with my homebrew LDMOS linear. It uses
the four-wire Yaesu band codes to change bands, following the
transceiver
around like a puppy. I was getting problems where RF would get into the
four
wires and momentarily change the band. Then the protection circuit
would kick,
turning the linear off. I drove myself nuts with bypassing and RF
chokes. Nothing
quite worked. Then - an idea - why not just ignore band changes during
transmit?
Modified my software to do that, and problem solved.
