If a KAT500 is powered but off it will respond to command ps; with PS0; If a KAT500 is powered and on it will respond to command ps; with PS1; If a KAT500 is not powered it will not on it will not respond to ps; Powered status can also be found by checking the response to ; No response if not powered ; response if powered. Hopefully any remote control software you use will be smart enough to apply these tests and indicate the result.
