I think this is a situation you will find several time when reading the
django.po file. It happened with the "castellano" v. "español" choice
I pointed to in a previous thread.

I don't know if it will be possible to maintain an unique Spanish
catalog set that satisfy all the flavours of our language as aspoken in
different places (Spain, Chile, México, ...). That's why back in May I
[1]decided to start the Argentinean spanish tranlation without "hijacking"
the existing spanish translation created by a translator from Spain.

There has been also some [2]discussion about this some months ago
(BTW why is the Google Groups search engine so dumb?, it can't
find a thread the GMail one has no problem spotting.)

Thoughts?.
