We've setup quite a few of these types of connections for different
locations worldwide, there are loads of solutions for this.

Apart from the ones already mentioned, Motorola Canopy, Alvarion are
worth checking out. Ubiquiti Networks have been highly recommended to
us although we haven't used them ourselves.

I would second the 5ghz recommendation, works much better than 2.4. We
gave up on laser as it was too dependent on weather conditions.

Finally, I would recommend this article about the NetHope wireless
network in Haiti which gives a good overview of the steps involved in
setting this up:
