It is not about having one or two servers hosting the files. It is
about more than 100 servers hosting files for millions of users (>
50000000 downloads since version 3).
I would assume the wast majority of downloads was for en-US versions,
following by de, fr, ja, it, es... In past two months, we had only about
~5000 downloads of 3.0.1 for sr and sh combined.
I would have nothing against making policy that only popular languages
will be included on the mirror network and others will be distributed by
few extra-large central mirrors (so auto-update can work) and by local
mirrors distributing only some languages (to distribute load).
Such a selective mirroring will be made possible when
bouncer is replaced with a more flexible tool.
On the other hand, I can perfectly understand current situation where
there are no policy and no tools that can help us accomplish that but
that should not stop us from thinking about it.
Right, and at the same time we should give those (like you) who are
willing to work on QA and release of a localized build a chance to do that.
Are builds for your languages available by now?
Greetings
Stefan
