Please feel free to continue the discussion on legal-discuss.  I do not
see any instructions on the page linked above that explain how to give
attribution or that it is "required".  The strings on that page for
Open-Sans are the ones you would find by dumping strings from the TTF
files.  On the right is the link to the Apache License.  The zip file we
downloaded does not contain a NOTICE and per my understanding from our
legal-discuss responders, that means that copyright attribution is not
required.

I'm done bugging legal-discuss (for now).  I'm almost out of time for
tonight anyway so probably won't get the RC until maybe 9 hours from now
or tomorrow evening, so if you can get them to change their minds before I
cut the RC, I'll have time to make the changes.
