Yes, exactly, but why? why doesn't Ubuntu recognize the insertion of the CD. I had already tried a DVD I want to use to learn Quebecois French, and it didn't recognize that either, and this morning I tried, as you suggested, inserting a CD that isn't music, it's an audio book CD of Margaret Atwood, and it made absolutely no impression whatsoever either. Nada. But it was doing this "recognition" perfectly before the upgrade to Ubuntu 9.10, so what has to be done to fix it? Can it be fixed?
