Considering what rope-dancing is performed by SSD drive controller to maintain homogeneous wear across disk space or what stunts happen on modern COW filesystems with snap mechanisms etc. I don't see simple fragmentation on exFAT as serious issue. Hovewer it could potentially slow down the card neear full capacity and elevates complexity of data recovery if card fails. Although for mission critical content a camera with 2 card slots should be used rendering this discussion nearly irrelevant as simultaneous fail of 2 cards is very unlikely and even in that situation data recovery is still possible.

But now that we're here...
No, dt does not offer the ability to remove files from the memory card.
And conventional wisdom says you really shouldn't wipe your memory card with your computer either. Ideally, you would wipe it from your camera. Also, it's not a good idea to ever partially wipe a card (not sure if you were doing that or not) either, as that leaves a fragmented storage unit which will mean at some point, your camera is having to split an image up across multiple areas of the card.

Subject: [darktable-dev] Delete files on memory card
To: darktable <darktable-dev@lists.darktable.org <mailto:darktable-dev@lists.darktable.org>>

Hello everyone,

I have a [noob] question regarding importing the images from the memory card. Is there an option in dt for physically removing files directly from the memory card after [successful] import? If not, what's the default workflow for it? Manually deleting files from outside dt seems a bit cumbersome. Or maybe I don't understand something?

ŁK
