Here is the way I do it on linux
1. Create a directory under my pictures directory with a name consisting of a
date in iso format and a brief description.
2. Copy the contents of the memory card to the new directory with the -a option
(archive preserves the file date).
3. Open digikam photo organizer, already configured to access my pictures
directory.
4. Create a culls directory under the location where I have just stored my raw
images and move the really bad ones there so that the only files remaining in
the main directory are the ones I want to import into dt.
5. Select all files and open them with dt.
6. Umount the camera memory card, put it back in the camera, and use the camera
routine to reformat it. I use reformat rather than delete because delete only
moves the files to the deleted items directory. Reformat actually deletes the
memory card contents, freeing up the space.
