According to the experts with whom I’ve spoken, Marek’s comment that allowing
the engine to pull water from a bucket instead of forcing water into the engine
by directly connecting a hose from a spigot is an important point and should be
heeded.

The only thing that I would add to it is that after the procedure, I open the
strainer and remove the pink AF from it, so that the strainer does not craze.

I also use a bucket (from Home Depot) and run a garden hose to it and a length
of hose from it to the water intake to run the engine on the hard. This way,
there is no pressure at the water pump (experience tells me that it is a good
thing; a long story). When it warms up, I stop the water flow and pour AF (I
use about 3 gal, but our winter can get quite cold).

Pretty simple.

Hey Bill,

If it works, don't change.

I prefer to let the engine pump the pink stuff through the strainer, the hoses,
the impellor, the heat exchanger, and the lift muffler, and the exhaust hose.
I hang a bucket under the exhaust hose to catch the first pink stuff, and run
till the stream is solid pink. I pour the stuff from the bucket into sink
drains to winterize the trap, the hose and the seacock too.
