The new cable was the trick! ☺ Not only am I getting AIS data into the CP180, it now picks up GPS data on port 1 as well. Before the firmware update, GPS data had to be on port 3, which is the second connector on the back. Now I just need to pull the old cable and replace it. I think I am going to replace all the coax on the boat as well, it all dates from about 1984 to 1994 at the newest. I also gained split screen charts. This is a little silly considering the CP180 screen isn’t very big, but it does work.

To make matters worse, the cabling goes through the pedestal and winds all over to the chart table. Taking the splice apart would be a project. I think I am going to cough up the $18.00 and get another data cable to test with.
