Donald This happened to me in the Bahamas, fortunately my board was jammed in the up position. If my board was down I would be concerned it could get damaged. I believe the cable can be replaced while the boat is in the water. Your biggest challenge will be getting the cable end made that's attached to the board. I've been told they are not available so I had a machine shop make on for me. I could get you the dimensions but it may not be the same. Also, I could give you a picture of my board as I have yet to do the reinstall.
