Also, there are many small shops around the country that sew old sails into 
bags and other paraphernalia. I have donated a sail or two and have some great 
bags that they gave me in trade for the sail.

there's no reason to try and sell it.  Old sails tend to have some really handy 
SS parts (like those little rings on the wishbones that go through reefing 
points) and seriously good D Rings and other hardware that is actually worth 
more than you'll get for the sail.  Newer sails don't have those parts unless 
you pay for them, and the SS parts are not of the same quality.

I have a SS ring from a 30 year old sail that I currently clip the davit onto 
when hauling the outboard up.  Old SS hardware comes in really handy (much like 
old rope) and you never know when you'll want it.
