The uv cover on my 135% furling sail also is attached along the leech as
well as the foot of the sail and for my 135 % that was 64 feet at $7 per
foot.add on the new luff tape at another per foot charge and considering the
sail is already old.might as well start out with a purpose built sail if you
are already investing in converting to furling.sailing can be expensive
sometimes.choose the size of sail you use most and get a new furling
sail.maybe change the luff tape on some others just for specific uses and
not to remain on the furler all season long, like for a C&C 30 in
predominantly light air venues it might be good to have the 170% at least
fit on the foil

You can have them converted. The sailmaker will cut off the existing luff
and install a luff tape that threads into the foil. You will also need to
have a UV cover sewn onto the leach and along the foot. This is only about
12" to 18" wide and can be white or made out of Sunbrella to match your Main
Sail Cover or whatever. The sail may also need to be shortened a bit as the
lower attachment point will be above the furling drum, so a bit higher than
where you attach the tack now and the top will attach to a swivel so may be
a bit lower than now.

Have the largest one (that you would expect reasonably to use) that is still
in good condition converted and put the others to rest. It may be better to
have a good new one made if the old ones are shot. False economy to put a
bunch of money into a sail that is well beyond its prime.

No you cannot use hank on sails with a roller and it typically costs about
$400 per sail to change. So if the sails are over 10 years old (unless a
storm sail) then don't worry about the rest of them

if anybody has been reading my post in the last 2 years you know that I'm
green at big boat sailing. I have learned how to sail the C&C30 MK1 using
all hank on sails. that's a:
115%
135%
155%
and a 170%
We just got back from a bare boat charter in the BVI. I sailed 7 days on a
Jeanneau 36i with a roller. Man what a dream that roller furling system was.
How much trouble will it be to convert my boat? Could I use one of the head
sails to convert or do I have to buy a new sail? Will all my head sails
become un-usable at that point? It may not be worth the money or the wast of
the old sails? Please comment on this if you k now cost of a conversion or
advice in this process.
Thanks so much for your help.
