No mast step problems with the 35 MKII, at least not with mine and she will be 40 years old in February 2014
33 MKII has some reported problems _____ From: CnC-List [mailto:cnc-list-boun...@cnc-list.com] On Behalf Of Stevan Plavsa Sent: January 24, 2014 9:43 AM To: cnc-list@cnc-list.com Subject: Re: Stus-List 35-2 traveler question The 35-2 is a boat that I just recently fell in love with so of course I've been doing some window shopping. I may be able to help. You can find a really good picture of the cockpit in this ad: http://www.sailboatlistings.com/cgi-bin/saildata/db.cgi?db=default <http://www.sailboatlistings.com/cgi-bin/saildata/db.cgi?db=default&uid=defa ult&view_records=1&ID=30279&mh=1> &uid=default&view_records=1&ID=30279&mh=1 To me, it doesn't look like a project worth pursuing. I've had a boat with a bridge deck traveler and I've sailed aboard boats with the traveler forward of the helm and think out of the two locations I prefer the bridge deck. My 32's traveler is on the cabin top and that's great for keeping out of the way but it also has it's drawbacks. I do like my uncluttered cockpit though. My question would almost be the opposite, is it possible to relocate the traveler to the cabin top on the 35-2? Was the 35-2 the one with the mast step problems or was that the 33-2? Both locations have drawbacks. The bridge deck traveler ruins a good cockpit seating area and can make sleeping in the cockpit problematic. The traveler in front of the helm is a knee knocker and makes moving around the cockpit more difficult. But either location can be set up to offer easy adjustment from the helm when single handed, if that is your concern. I haven't been able to find just the right picture that will show if there is enough room ahead of the helm pedestal and behind the lazerettes to install a bridge or some kind of support to mount the traveler. Any help would be greatly appreciated, thanks. _______________________________________________ This List is provided by the C&C Photo Album http://www.cncphotoalbum.com CnC-List@cnc-list.com
