The big deal is dropping the rudder, but after that, not much. As some of the listers recall, when I had my new rudder etc. to install, I bought a chunk of round black Delrin or Acetal and had a machine shop turn the inside so it would fit into the tube and keep the top surface of the rudder separate from the hull.
Now, I am re-assembling the Edson pedestal and quadrant after an almost complete re-fit. Good idea. A boat I sailed on from Quebec City to Lisbon in 2004 gave the skipper the heebie jeebies just off the coast of Newfoundland, but he couldn't find anything when he dove to inspect. 7 months later, when the boat was on its way back from the Med it lost its rudder ½ way between Bermuda and Norfolk Va. Appears the skipper's sixth sense was spot on. Cheers! Alex ______________________________ Alexander M. Giannelia, B.A.A. President THE AIRBORNE SENSING CORPORATION 912-555 Richmond Street West P.O.
