Hi Jim, C&C was going through changes in owners '88 to '95, when it sold to Tartan and Rob Ball ended his long association with the brand. I hope you can find your answers for your 30 MKII.
I belong to another list of C&C owners of the 34/36 variety and they helped me track down HINs and many stories on 45 of the 94) 34/36 hulls built. I don't have complete data but can see that C&C built only 9) R hulls which went to racers to help create a market. Two raced at Block Island Race week summer of 1989. A couple went to the Great Lakes and a few wound up on the West Coast. Then they built the cruising version, called the Plus, similar to your 30 MkII. Some buyers ordered the larger sailplan w three spreader rig w runners, and after a while, C&C started marketing those as XLs. . . . more than you wanted to know. It's very comfortable and inviting below. There has not been much emphasis on 30 foot designs since, so I still think the combination of features is pretty unusual in the market even today. The only downside is a fairly small cockpit, but it really has not been an issue for us. It was a huge upgrade from our Catalina 27, I know that! I am not sure of the evolution, the 30-2 was a fairly late design for C&C, coming out in 1988 as far as I can tell. I don't see many that were made after '88, which I find interesting. I know our '88 was a showroom boat in Michigan and did not see water until '90. Can anyone shed any light on the later history of this model?
