Dennis, I second your comment. I bought a Lewmar One Touch a couple years
ago during the winter. In the Spring I tried in my Barient 18 winches
(Aluminum version) and it wouldn't lock in. The screw that holds the drum
on was too high and the bottom of the drive portion hit it. I had to grind
about 1/16" off the bottom of the drive and it works perfectly. In fact I
liked it so much that I bought another one the next year ( and made the same
modification). I also have 3 of the floating handles (one came with the
boat, one from my old boat and a non locking one that I won), they will be
staying with the boat when I sell it to move up and the One Touches will be
coming with me. The handles flex when trying to grind in heavy weather and
they float with the black handle up so you can't see them. Last week we
were racing and I saw one float by about 6 feet away, I just left it there,
it wasn't worth bothering to go back to pick it up.

WARNING!!!

This handle will not work in older shallow pocket Barlows! If you try to
use one in such winch, it might not come out.

I had correspondence with the inventor and discussed it with him at the
Annapolis boat show a few years ago.
