Those considering moving to a more cruise oriented mode,
Do you have a roller furler? IMHO, a furler is the absolute best option for
cruising. I'd pop for a furler over a smaller sail any time. Add a tape drive
or foam luff genoa and you're good to go.
When I bought Touche', the first thing I put on it was a Harken roller furler.
Never looked back! We go out for a day sail, roll out the old Dacron crosscut
genoa, sail a bit, roll it up and dock the boat. Easy.
We also race the boat. The Harken double slot furler are great for that. We
have a full suit of racing sails. Some fit the furler, some don't.
If you are convinced that your serious racing days are over, consider one of
Harken's new ESP cruising furlers.
