I used Phil’s Foils in Canada to build a replacement rudder for my C&C 37. They used my rudder stock and are able to do a custom rudder. I was very happy with the result and the service. Rick, I’m not sure how you got separate quotes from Phil’s Foils and Competition Composites – they are the same company. My understanding is that Competition Composites grow out of Phil’s foils when they expanded into other areas.

I had a new one made by FinTech (I think that is the name of the company) in Costa Mesa. It cost about $2500 and took about 4 weeks. We did the job with the boat in the water. Getting good access to the area around the rudder shaft is critical. In hindsight, I should have removed even more stuff that was in the way rather than trying to work around it (like hoses, fuel tank bed, ect). Now that it is done, very happy with the results. We have our '76 C&C 33 mkI on the hard in Charleston SC right now for routine maintenance. Will definitely take a good look at the rudder.
