The Microsoft Tax is buying a consumer computer (Dell, HP, etc.) and
having no choice to buy the machine without also buying Microsoft
software (Windows, Office, etc.). There's been some investigations on
this OEM lock-in practice, but you'd have to ask a lawyer just what came
of that :-)
