This is good.
We should have multiple events, mainly, this helps more people to
get to the installfests. A single event will inevitable leave a large (too
large) portion of the willing to come and get installed away due to one
reason or another. Multiple small events, will catch more people attention,
and would let them come to the next event, and that would be sooner than next
year. The tent is a great idea for the summer/good weather. And it will sure
get heads turning.
The large (annual) event should not obscure or negate the multiple small
events, but should supplement them. I do think, that it is entirely possible
to organize a major event based on generous donations from our sponsors and
members, this includes volunteer time and effort. I would think a fair of
some sorts, in a large public space would be nice. Needles to say, there has
to be great flexibility with an outdoor event, specially regarding the
weather.

I would see the possibility of a social event in the outdoor platform, and the
technical events would take place somewhere else nearby, in an indoors
setting. Shuttle service would also be possible, to and from the 2 places.
Naturally a large event like this does require great amount of work and
coordination.

And again, what about just organizing a conference of oss/Linux with many
international contributers doing the presentations ... whole development
teams could be on the show ... This would be a high profile event, maybe we
would only be able to organize one every 2 years. But would defiantly rise
the profile of clug and oss in the area. I would even see CLUG working
closely with other Lugs in the region to accomplish this.

Again, a single large event, and nothing else, is not very good. People miss
the event, they forget, the next train is too long. We must have multiple
smaller events, i would even say, if resources don't permit, at the price of
not having a major event.
