We had our last InstallFest of the year yesterday at Computer Surplus. I think
it went very well. We had a decent turnout (despite the initial crappy
weather). We were given the back croner of the store to set up with tables
and chairs kindly provided by Computer Surplus along with the power bars and
Internet connectivity and networking.

I'd say we had between 20 - 30 people hang out in our area during the course
of the day. We did several Linux installs and had some demo machines on hand
for people to check out. Our burning machine appeared to have some hardware
issues so unfortunately we weren't able to burn much of anything for anyone.
We did have a few people with pre-configured machines with working burners,
so we were able to hand out a few discs. Thanks for lending a hand with that
guys.

I would like to say a big thank-you to Keith, Tyler, Ray and the rest of the
staff at Computer Surplus for allowing us to come and hold our event there.
Big thanks also to Jesse for getting this event on its feet and helping out.
Thanks to everyone else who was there to volunteer and the people who were
there as participants. You all made the day a success!

I apologize to the people we had to turn away at the end. We just didn't have
time to do your installs and we felt it was unfair to go through the initial
process only to interrupt in partway through.

As a treat and as a way of making amends for not having a barbecue this year
we decided to foot the bill for some vittles for the day. We handed out 15
coupons that were good for a combo pizza, a pop and a piece of banana bread
from Coco Brooks restaurant which happened to be just down the block from
Computer Surplus. The were kind enough to give us a break on the food (we
saved over $20) and they took a corporate cheque which made it very easy to
settle up at the end of the day. We also had coffee and donut holes on hand.

Yes, I think it was a success. Way to go team!
