I'd personally prefer to avoid this, since emacs keyboarding is going to be 
weird anyway and standard weird is generally better than novel weird unless 
you're already really committed.

The only change that I found I wanted to make in Sam Aaron's setup was to 
comment out lines concerning "clutter" at the end of 
.emacs.d/live-config/cosmetic.el. At least in the emacs that I used (from 
emacsformacosx.com) this "clutter" is OS native menus which are a huge plus.
