I suppose one could come up with a configuration file for Thunderbird that used dtaction commands to have the CDE type handling mechanism deal with as many as possible (and relatively safe, e.g. NOT shell scripts) attachment types. That would allow some degree of natural integration. Add to that a theme for Thunderbird that gave it a more Motif-like look (and maybe multiple versions of it to match some of the CDE color scheme choices), and IMO it wouldn't be too bad. The theme part would take some work from someone that knows how, but a lot less work probably than modernizing dtmail.
The only thing I really liked about dtmail (Sun's version, where the IMAP actually worked, although not with TLS, as I recall) was that it could work with either local mailboxes or IMAP; and if migrating to IMAP from local mailboxes and one used an IMAP server that could handle the existing mailbox format, it was fairly painless and one could always fall back. The lack of inline display for HTML or RTF definitely was not nice, although back then, I didn't necessarily expect those anyway. > On Jun 26, 2018, at 19:19, Jon Trulson <j...@radscan.com> wrote: > > On 06/26/2018 05:09 PM, Robert Pangrazio wrote: >> I’ll see if I can find my exact setup, but that doesn’t sound right.
