I’ll see if I can find my exact setup, but that doesn’t sound right. I wasn’t
deleting messages as I was able to see them from multiple devices.

I have an AWS server I use for my own projects, including CDE where I had it
set up. And since I access it through a website, why not just access my gmail
in a different tab. It was more of a proof of concept and not really something
I use all the time.

It was however, in my opinion, a bit of a hack. And if somebody wants to put
true modern email server support in that would be awesome.

I’ve been investigating html rendering for a little bit. I’ve been trying to
find the best way to integrate it into the system. I’ve looked at including
html rendering widgets like xmhtml, using chromes rendering engine, or even
including code from mosaic.

I do have a question though. I have been looking at some other email clients
and wondering if we don’t replace dtmail with them. Redo the ui to match
dtmail, but keep everything underneath the same. Is this an approach anybody
would even entertain? I’m not sure I like it, but the thought had occurred.

Thanks
Robert Pangrazio

My experience was that when using fetchmail (or getmail, or dtmail's
builtin IMAP), you cannot leave messages on the server. If you do, they
will be repeatedly fetched, causing much duplication. Local deletion
also does not propagate back to the server. This is not how IMAP was
intended to work; it is glorified POP.

Does this not match your experience?

Ah, HTML... yeah, as much as I try to avoid such mail, I suppose
something should be done for it...
