>From what I’ve heard, INE does have reputable training products for the SP
track. However, many of the successful SP clients that I’ve spoken with have
mentioned that our offerings (Workbooks, Proctor Labs and possibly a Boot
Camp) are more than sufficient and no other vendor’s products were needed to
pass the lab.

We’d love to come down to San Paulo! :) We just need to round up enough CCIE
candidates (usually 8-10) to warrant sending an instructor down for a week.
If you can help make this happen Andre and you know of a good training
facility – I’ll make sure you get a free seat in the class!

Otherwise, if you must travel here (Columbus, OH or San Jose, CA) to attend
our course, I can help you out on the registration cost, to help offset your
travel expenditures.

In my opinion both INE and IPE are great. IPE, as Rick said, is much more
elaborated and acctually more complicated than the real lab. Besides the
workbooks I have been having a great support from all IPE team (proctor
labs). That´s why I will still using and recommending it. But I will also
use any other´s vendor material as complement.

I heard something about IPexpert team planning some bootcamp in Sao
Paulo/BR. Is that true? There is no specific CCIE SP courses and bootcamp
here...

INE, who’s that? ;) Instead of going to INE, invest in the IPexpert 5-Day
Instructor Led Boot Camp. It will be well worth the investment, you’re
guaranteed a phenomenal learning experience and you’ll receive instruction
from triple CCIE Tyson Scott (recently passed SP on the first attempt only
about a month ago.) ;)

Yep... It's almost impossible to get a seat in SP (Sao Paulo). It appears
there only ONE seat offer per month for Service Provider here, can u
believe? But I had luck once I am sure I will again... the secret is that
the schedule system covers just the next 240 days on the calendar so it
slides every day at 0am PST. If the new date is a business day and you are
the first to search at 0:00:01am you have a little chance to get your seat
for 8 months later... or just watch the website every day to see if any
dropped seat appears. In Sao Paulo is even worst, the proctor told me that
exams are given only on the first week of each month for 3 times (Mon, Wed,
Fri) where THE SP seat is on Fridays... you got to be kidding me!!!

Bill
As for the management questions they were 2 simple questions, but one of
them was a little bit more elaborated and I couldn’t complete it as I
decided to skip it and get back to my main L2 issue. At that time I already
knew that I wouldn't make it. I had to reload the routers twice. I can
recall exactly the exact problem now, but I believe was something with TE
and redistribution…

Hi Lala,

Sorry I thought these locations were always quite open in terms of SP seats,
that was the case when I was scheduling for it.

IT seems they filled up completely up completely up to April.

Hi Andre,

Thank you for sharing your experience! Indeed the L2 stuff in the lab can be
tricky especially with PPPoE.

Keep up the good work and don't hesitate to ask any questions on this list,
there's a lot of SP knowledge available

 here :-)

You could try and do the lab in San Jose or RTP as there are a lot of seats
open in those locations.

Well, I dont want to violate nda rules, but it's well know that basic L2 is
preconfigured but you may encounter some troubleshooting or some portions
with specific requirements. My problem was that I wasn’t full prepared for
what they asked and some research on documentation would be needed.
Definitively the real lab is not the best time to try something you never
did before...

When you say L2 basics, you meant to say you could not bring your
frame-relay or ethernet or PPP. I thought frame-relay is preconfigured and
PPP in my opinion you can always skip and come back later.

Hello guys

Unfortunately I’ve failed in my first attempt on the CCIE Service Provider
exam. Eventhough I had I put all efforts and dedication on it, I wasn’t
really expecting to pass on the first attempt. It was just 2 months of study
since I passed the written. I decided to go to the lab with this short time
pretty aware that this could happen. It’s very hard to get a seat in Sao
Paulo/Brazil for SP and I couldn’t miss the chance to get lab experience (
or even pass ) when I found one seat available on Cisco Website, probably
from somebody dropped due to payment.

I am using IPExpert as the main guide for my preparation and I can tell you
know that they are really good and cover in different pieces every topics we
you need to pass de exam. I’m also using INE and practicing some scenarios
proposed by Antonio Soares on his website.

What I can tell you about my experience is that I failed on the basics: L2
(legacy), basic security and management. As many questions are
interdependent on the evaluation, I lost points everywhere eventhough I
could complete most of the other tasks. I was pretty much well prepared for
worst and didn’t pay attention to basic stuff.

Now I will take some weeks off and then get back to IPE workbook 1 to focus
on my weak areas and also some book reading, probably MPLS Fundamentals.

At the end, I think the result was fair. If could complete those basic
tasks, I am not a Cisco Expert, YET!
