January 26, 2014 Highlights:-----------

Montezuma National Wildlife Complex (MNWC) and Montezuma Wetlands Complex 
(MWC)------------
    1/31: A WHITE-CROWNED SPARROW was seen along Rt. 31 in the mucklands.     
2/1: A LAPLAND LONGSPUR was seen at the intersection of Armitage Road and Rt.89.

Onondaga county------------
     1/27: A HERMIT THRUSH continues at Carpenter’s Brook Fish Hatchery near 
Elbridge. A PINE SISKIN was at a feeder in Pompey.     1/29: A GRAY CATBIRD 
continues along the Andrews Road feeder canal in Dewitt.     1/31: Three 
ICELAND GULLS including an adult were seen from the bridge in Baldwinsville. A 
second female BARROW’S GOLDENEYE has appeared at Phoenix. Sighting is from the 
fisherman’s access down river from the bridge. NOTE: The Oswego River marks the 
boundary of Onondaga and Oswego Counties so these birds most likely can be 
counted for both counties.     2/1: A SNOWY OWL was seen at Hancock Airport. 3 
ICELAND and 3 GLAUCOUS GULLS were seen at the Inner Harbor. An adult male 
RED-SHOULDERED HAWK was seen and photographed at the intersection of Morgan and 
VerPlank Roads north of Great Northern Mall.     2/2: 2 TRUMPETER SWANS were in 
the Seneca River along the Northeast Trail (north side of the river) in 
Baldwinsville.

Oswego County------------
     1/28: A SURF SCOTER was again seen in Oneida Lake in Brewerton.     1/30: 
A NORTHERN SHRIKE was seen in Williamstown.     2/1: A PINE SISKIN was at a 
feeder in Hastings.

Madison------------
     1/31: A SNOWY OWL was seen on West Mile Strip Road in Fenner.     2/1: 
EVENING GROSBEAKS continue at the feeders on Carpenter Road near Sheds. also 
being seen are PINE SISKINS, a CHIPPING SPARROW, a FOX SPARROW and 2 NORTHERN 
GOSHAWKS.

Oneida County------------
     2/1: A SNOWY OWL was spotted at Griffis Tech Park near Rome. A SHORT-EARED 
OWL has again been spotted at the intersection of Rt.31 and Miller Road in 
Verona.

Cayuga county------------
     1/31: A NORTHERN SHRIKE was seen at the Sterling Nature Center.

Herkimer County------------
     1/28: A PINE SISKIN was at a feeder near Dolgeville.

Jefferson County------------
     1/31: 2 SNOWY OWLS were seen on Dutch Settelment Road north of Evans Mills.
