Greetings. This is the Syracuse Area Rare Bird Alert for the week of April 06, 
2014 Highlights:-----------
RED-THROATED LOONEURASION WIGEONSANDHILL CRANEGREATER YELLOWLEGSUPLAND 
SANDPIPERBONAPARTE’S GULLGLAUCOUS GULLLESSER BLACK-BACKED GULLSNOWY OWL

Montezuma National Wildlife Complex (MNWC) and Montezuma Wetlands Complex 
(MWC)------------
     4/7: SANDHILL CRANES were seen at Marten’s Tract.     4/8: A GLAUCOUS GULL 
was seen on the Loop Road unit north of the Hamlet of Montezuma.     4/10: 15 
GREATER YELLOWLEGS were seen in the Mucklands along Rt.31. 2 GREAT EGRETS were 
seen in Knox-Marsellus Marsh.     4/12: A DUNLIN was seen in the Mucklands. 

Derby Hill------------
     A slow start turned better toward the weekend and 7,155 birds were 
counted. This does not include today which promises to be a great day. SANDHILL 
CRANES were seen on 4/9 and 4/10. BONAPARTE’S GULLS were seen on 4/10 and the 
first BROADWING HAWKS were seen on 4/12.

Oswego County------------
     4/13: An UPLAND SANDPIPER has returned to the Oswego County Airport in 
Fulton.

Madison County------------
     4/8: A SANDHILL CRANE was seen at Ditchbank Road.     4/11: EVENING 
GROSBEAKS continue at a feeder on Carpenter Road near Sheds.

Onondaga County-------------
     4/12: A SANDHILL CRANE was seen at Three Rivers WMA from the Smokey Hollow 
Road side. 3 COMMON LOONS and 6 RED-NECKED GREBES were seen in Beaver Lake. A 
FOS LOUISIANA WATERTHRUSH was heard at Pratts Falls county Park.

Oneida County------------
     4/11: A RED-THROATED LOON was seen in Oneida Lake south of Verona Beach.   
  4/12: A LESSER BLACK-BACKED GULL was seen at Sylvan Beach.

Jefferson County------------
     4/8: A SNOWY OWL was seen on Rt.11 south of Philiadelphia.
