Montezuma National Wildlife Refuge (MNWR) and Montezuma Wetlands Complex (MWC)------------ 12/17: 1 LESSER BLACK-BACKED GULL and 2 ICELAND GULLS were seen with the thousands of common gulls at the Mucklands along Rt. 31. 12/21: 34 SANDHILL CRANES still seen from East Road. Madison County------------ 12/15: A RED-THROATED LOON was found at Woodman Pond. 12/19: Up to 18 EVENING GROSBEAKS and 6 PINE SISKINS continue at a feeder on Carpenter Road near Sheds. An ICELAND GULL was seen at the southeast end of Oneida Lake. Oneida County------------ 12/15: A late FOX SPARROW was seen in Waterville. 12/19: 12/19: 9 SHORT-EARED OWLS were see in a field at the intersection of Miller Road and Rt. 31 in Durhamville. 12/20: 58 species were recorded on the Clinton/Utica CBC. Highlights were 2 LAPLAND LONGSPURS and 3 PINE GROSBEAKS. Onondaga County------------ 12/20: 85 species were recorded on the Syracuse CBC. Highlights were EASTERN TOWHEE, MARSH WREN, NORTHERN SHRIKE, SNOWY OWL and GRAY CATBIRD. 12/21: A LONG-EARED WOL and a SAW-WHET OWL were both found on the Bog Trail at Beaver Lake Nature Center. 12/22: A SNOWY OWL was spotted on a light post along Rt.690 near the State Fair in Syracuse.
